Thank you for stopping by to see more of my daddy’s artwork. This is one of several coal miners he carved over his many years ‘whittling'(as he preferred to call it) :-).
My parents both grew up in a small coal mining town.  I also lived in that small community until almost twelve years old.  Many of my family members, at one time or another, worked in the coal mines… including my daddy.  At 6 foot 4 inches, this was no easy task for him; however it was how he put food on the table for a few years after he and my momma married.
Coal mining is hard, back-breaking, dangerous work;  I am proud of my daddy and so many other family members, who work(ed) so hard to provide for their loved ones. Whether they mine(d) coal, or work(ed) in an office… I am proud to be part of such a hard-working family.
I am proud of the rich legacy my daddy left stamped across my heart:  a love & devotion to the one and only God of the universe; a stellar work ethic and desire to serve others as Christ did; a love to create and freely share his gifts with others; a heart that gave all the glory to God-the author of everything good in our lives.
Missing you today and everyday…I love you daddy♡.
